The Aeolian Islands can be reached from the following airports:

- Naples - ports can be easily reached by bus from the airport.

- Catania - a direct bus (Giuntabus) connects the airport directly to the port of Milazzo (from April 1 trough September 30); buses (Sais) also connect the airport to the port of Messina.

- Reggio Calabria - the airport is connected by bus with the ports of Reggio Calabria and Messina.

- Palermo - the airport is connected every hour by bus to the city centre where you can catch the train to Milazzo or the hydrofoil directly to the Aeolian Islands.

- Messina - the railway station is 1 km far from the port (where you can take Ustica Lines hydrofoils). If you don't succeed in catching a hydrofoil, you need to go by bus (Giuntabus) to Milazzo (the bus stop is right opposite the port).

- Naples - the recommended railway station to get to the ferry is Piazza Garibaldi station, while the closest railway station to the hydrofoil port is Mergellina station.

-From 1 to 31 March   (all days).  The bus leaves from Milazzo at 10:20 and 15:20 and from Catania Airport at 13:30 and 17:20.

-From 1 April to 30 June and from1 to 30 September (all days).  The bus leaves from Milazzo at 8:15 - 10:20 - 12:20 - 15:30 and from Catania Airport at 10:30 - 13:30 - 15:20 - 17:20.

- From 1 July  until 30 August (all days). The bus leaves from Milazzo at  8:15 - 10:20 - 12:20 - 15:30 - 18:00 and from Catania Airport at 10:30 - 13:30 - 15:20 - 17:20 - 20:10.
